Tasty Tuesday

Yes....I have missed a few days here!  I think today is Tasty Tuesday?  I had a blog all ready to write Friday night but got home late from work at the bar and getting groceries for the weekend so I didn't write it :(

The weekend was relaxing and enjoyable with family and friends.  What I was going to share in my blog on Friday is important I think so I will share it now:

One tradition for Memorial Day is the wearing of poppies. The custom is generally credited to Moina Michael, a former teacher at the University of Georgia who was working for the YMCA Overseas War Secretaries at the end of World War I. She was inspired by reading the poem “In Flanders Fields,” by Canadian poet and doctor John McCrae. The poem’s opening lines read:
“In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row . . .”
During the Overseas War Secretaries’ annual conference held in New York City in 1918, shortly before the signing of the armistice ending the war, grateful delegates gave Michael $10 in recognition of her help with the conference. She spent the money on 25 red silk poppies to hand out to participants.
The poppy became a national symbol of remembrance, and two years later the American Legion adopted it at its own conference. Poppies have symbolized the day ever since.

Until I stumbled upon this, I guess I never thought what the meaning behind the poppies was.  But now I do!

Tonight I made the ever so famous Stove Top Chicken Casserole.  I absolutely love this casserole and have shared this with many friends!  Here is my Tasty Tuesday recipe:

Stove Top Chicken Casserole

2 boxes of Stove Top Chicken (I buy the wheat kind)
2 cans of Cream of Chicken Soup
1 can of chicken broth
1 8 0z. sour cream
1 stick of butter
Chicken Breasts (I used normally 2-3, depending on how big they are)

First cut up the chicken into cubes and cook on stove top.
While cooking you can combine the 2 boxes of stove top with 1 stick of melted butter into a bowl and stir

In another bowl, combine the soup, sour cream, and cooked chicken.

In a 9*13 pan, put 1/2 of the stove top mixture on the bottom of the pan and then put the chicken mixture over it.  Then pour the rest of the stove top mixture over the chicken/soup.  Then pour a can of chicken broth over the casserole and bake 45 minutes (give or take) at 400.

On a side note, I use a little more than 8 0z. of sour cream because I would rather have it more moist!  Whatever floats your boat people!

Another reason I make this is because Paige loves this casserole and will eat lots of it.  BONUS

This weekend I made pinwheels and a taco dip that I will share with you...but not tonight!  I have a few more To-Do things on my list to get to before bed.  So it will come.

I also have a few pictures of Paige and my niece boating this weekend but left my phone cord at work so I will have to post those tomorrow night as well.  Oh ya, I forgot....Paige jumped into the pool on Monday and went under water all by herself.  AND SHE LOVED IT!  I didn't tell her that I wasn't going to catch her and when she came up from the water, her eyes were bigger than her head.  She starred at me for awhile to figure out what had occurred and then started laughing.  She jumped off the edge all afternoon long and swam all over the pool.  What a big girl!

Trending Thursday

Thursday is FINALLY over and now I just need 5 o’clock to get here tomorrow!  I’m super excited for this weekend and being able to spend it with family and friends.  Just hope the weather is SUNNY and HOT!

Last night, Paige slept with me and I had to laugh this morning after remembering her incident from 4:30 AM!  I woke up to her whining and asking me for pancakes!  This was weird, because I NEVER make pancakes for her unless they are the mini microwaveable ones!  Then she started telling me that she wanted milk!  By this time she was awake because I was highly annoyed with her disrupting me sleep.  After 10 minutes of her crying, kicking me in the back, and lying on my head, she fell asleep!

I’m not much of a fashion person, so I wouldn’t be able to advice what is trending!  My only suggestion is to look at Pinterest!   But…I can share what is trending in Paige’s world besides dresses and mis-fit outfits.  Last weekend Elmo seemed to be trending amongst all the little kids.  Paige received front row seats to Sesame Street for her birthday with backstage pass from her grandma and grandpa Fatka.  Paige had a great time and sat through it all!

Paige, my mom, and I backstage with Elmo and Grover!

Paige posing all funky

Wow was I surprised!  Paige only wanted cotton candy and didn't ask for anything else that night!  I thought she would had asked for a toy.

I was ok with buying her cotton candy because I knew it would last her the whole show.

This was the grand finale - good show!

Paige thought it was pretty cool to put streamers all over me...

Before we went to the show, my mom took us to Buzzard Billy's.  Had to get the mozzarella cheese sticks and got blackened chicken.  It was really good!  We got to sit on the patio - BONUS!

AND.....can't forget....I FOUND MY KEYS TONIGHT!  After cleaning my room, Paige's room, bathroom, living room, kitchen, laundry room, garage, and car; I gave up.  And a few minutes later i thought i would dump my purse again and look and FOUND them in the side pocket of my purse.  After searching for two days and cleaning floor to ceiling, I'm not longer stressed and can enjoy my weekend now.  YAY!!

What's UP Wednesday

Wow – what a morning!  I went to start the car and couldn’t find my keys.  So of course, I asked Paige if she had them or if she had put them anywhere.  Paige replied, “No Mom”.   What else would I expect from an innocent 3 year old?   So I spent about 10 minutes trying to find them and then said heck with it because I was already running late; so grabbed my extra set and away we went to daycare.  Due to the keys disappearing, I wasn’t able to make my pit stop at Caseys for my Diet Mt. Dew!  Then I got to work and had to sit on the phone with Help Desk for half hour to get logged into my computer.  Oh ya...Paige of course had to wear a dress to daycare today…what’s new!?

Before I say Happy Birthday to my sister, I have to give a shout out to my niece, Blakely!  She turned 1 yesterday and can’t wait to see her again this weekend!  Happy Birthday Blakely and Lindsey!!

Tonight we had the privilege of going to Ohanas for Lindsey’s birthday…AMAZING…is all I have to say!  Since I knew dinner wasn’t going to be cheap tonight and I didn’t have any leftovers to bring for lunch today, I packed myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!  It was tasty and saved me $, but sometimes I just have to take 1 for the team!

Paige gave her aunt 25 spankings and a pinch for her birthday!

Once we got home from dinner, I searched the house again for my keys and no luck :(  They have to be somewhere in the house because I remember bringing them in the house.  Guess what I know what I will be doing tomorrow night!

Tasty Tuesday

On Tasty Tuesday, I wanted to post a new recipe I have tried or would like to try.  However, tonight I will not be doing that since I'm not prepared and haven't cooked in the last week!

But, I would have to say tonight that I learned a new twist/trick to make soft shell tacos from my sister!  Which I'm sure everyone knows this or does it, but she put a little olive oil (i think) in a pan on medium heat on the stove top and then put the soft shell in the pan and flipped it when it was getting brown.  They sure did look good!  I will have to try it next time I make tacos!

Today was another day of me and Paige's (correct gammar?) routine...got ready, went to daycare/work, came home and messed around, and tucked Paige into bed!  What an exciting day huh!?  Paige loves being outside and helping her grandpa with yard work.  So tonight she got to help him plant some type of plan, and she was in heaven.

Paige couldn't start helping grandpa until she had her "sturdy" shovel!

P.S. - Paige got home tonight and had to put on a new dress and then threw a fit because she didn't want to wear the new dress.  So she agreed to put her t-shirt back and she substituted her tu-tu dress she wore to daycare for her running shorts.

Following the planting fun, we ended our evening in Ankeny at Lindsey and Joey's house.  The preggo lady was wanting Tropical Sno so we went with her and scored big on our flavor.  I think I ordered Paige Passion something because she wanted purple, and it was good!

I'm sure we will have many trips to Tropical Sno this summer!

Maniac Monday

Well...I'm pretty sure I just listened to Paige sing Jesus Loves Me and God Bless America about 25 times each while I laid in bed with her tonight.  I knew eventually she would fall asleep if I pretended to be sleeping.  It was too cute though, she would tell her self good job singing and to sign it again!  I just hope she can sing better than her mommy!

It is such a relief to get Monday out of the way for this week and to look forward to Memorial Day Weekend.  My maniac Monday this week will be about Paige.

This girl is a maniac when it comes to changing clothes and dressing herself.  She will go through about 4 outfits a day and is a maniac fashion diva!  But I have come to realize her thought process with changing clothes...  When I get home from work I automatically change into comfy clothes and she sees that, therefore; making her think she has to change her clothes too.    I do have to admit though, she has some pretty creative outfits sometimes!  Tonight she put on her pink leggings (she calls them sweatpants), pink tu-tu dress, and a pink t-shirt and she said it was cute.  Whatever floats that girl's boat, works for me.  But, I would like to see that she quit breaking hangers each time she pulls her shirts down from the closet...DRIVES ME CRAZY!

Unfortunately I did not get a picture of tonight's outfit, but I'm sure I have some from the past...

Sunday Funday

I have entered the blogging world!  I'm excited to start this journey and hope I can stick with it.  I'm not as creative as most bloggers, so don't get too excited about my blog!

Today was a recovery day from spending the weekend at Don Williams Lake in Ogden for May Birthdays.  Which wouldn't happen for most birthdays but as some may know, my sister's birthday is in May, so what else would we expect from Lindsey!  Lindsey had to share her weekend with my sister in law as well as my niece.   We had an amazing time as we were able to relax and spend time with family.

To end our weekend, Paige and I went with my parents to Buffalo Wild Wings, which was amazing as well.  Then I got to enjoy dinner with Kelli tonight at Chilis...much needed!

Paige's 1st Kayak experience with Uncle Steve.

My 1st experience as well with Kayaking.  I like it a lot more than canoeing.

 The Stewarts (and baby)

 Paige loves her Uncle Joey
I'm sure glad the boys were able to teach Paige how to fish, because I have no clue!  Paige thought it was pretty fun (the whole 5 minutes she fished)
 Paige and her cousin, Blakely

Glad to see Grandpa and Cheri!
 Life is good!

 Smores Time

Well....this was my first blog and I will only get better!  Most days will be boring I'm sure - so just WARNING now!  Stay tuned for tomorrow's post :)
